Bohm Social Justice Initiative Annual Events
Jewish and Muslim Day of Community Service (JAMDOCS)
This event, which takes place on Christmas Day, brings members of the Jewish and Muslim faith communities together with others, to volunteer at over 20 locations throughout the St. Louis region. Participants meet for a welcome breakfast (which alternates each year between the Jewish Community Center and the Daar Ul Islam Mosque) before leaving to engage in volunteer efforts at community service sites ranging from The Little Bit Foundation to Delmar Gardens. JAMDOCS is a joint project of the JCRC and the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis.
Projects that take place include bringing cookies to area police and fire fighters who have to work on Christmas Day, visiting with infants and young children served by St. Louis Crisis Nursery, making no-sew blankets for patients at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and engaging in games and other activities with clients of the St. Louis City Juvenile Detention Center.
