JCRC has long supported the need for a safe and secure State of Israel and we stand in solidarity with the people of Israel during this especially trying time.
The actions carried out by the Israeli government Thursday night were aimed at weakening an Iranian regime that in both rhetoric and in deeds have threatened the very existence of the State of Israel.
Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism - funding for decades the most serious threats on Israel’s borders - Hamas and Hezbollah - and they have repeatedly, publicly, and explicitly called for the annihilation of the State of Israel.
We have always remained hopeful for a future guided by diplomacy and peace, but we also acknowledge the imperative of confronting those who endanger lives and fuel violence. Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Israel — our friends and families — many of whom are sheltering from retaliatory attacks.
JCRC will continue to update the community on ways to find out more information about the developing situation on the ground and continue to communicate with our interfaith and civic partners as well as the media about Jewish community perspectives on Iran and their ongoing efforts to destabilize the region.
