Position Summary
The JCRC Program Director oversees the planning, coordination, and implementation of programs and the office operations needed to carry out our programming objectives.
The PD provides guidance and direction for all support staff and serves as a stand-in for the Executive Director when necessary. The JCRC PD supports the Executive Director in implementing programs to further core JCRC priority areas through the JCRC’s Interfaith and intergroup work, Advocacy, the JCRC Council, and the JCRC’s Newmark Institute for Human Relations. These priority areas include but are not limited to:
- Combatting antisemitism and all forms of hate, bias, and bigotry.
- Countering the demonization of Israel / advocating for a secure and democratic state of Israel.
- Supporting democratic institutions and working for a more just society
- Promoting interfaith and intergroup relations throughout the St. Louis region
As the lead staff person on program planning, the PD is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing all JCRC programs, including education, social action, and interfaith relations related initiatives. Israel related and antisemitism programs will be directed in close collaboration with the Executive Director. Collaboration on fundraising efforts will be an important role for all staff and event logistics for fundraising activities will fall under the direction of the PD.
At the direction of the Board and the Executive Director, the PD will work with key staff members on programs and initiatives that convene and mobilize members of the Jewish community and engage constituents in other religious, ethnic, civic, and political groups to advance key issues of common cause. A goal for the PD is to help JCRC strengthen and solidify internal Jewish community relationships and relationships beyond the Jewish community through the planning of these programs.
The PD will oversee several office functions that contribute to successful programming, like communications, program budgeting, attendance tracking and program evaluation.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Educational and Community Building Programming – collaborate with team members to develop and provide educational programs in line with strategic priority areas.
- Administration – assume the responsibility to occasionally represent the Executive Director/JCRC at meetings; provide support and guidance in the organization’s operations as it relates to programs like ordering, purchasing, facilities rentals. Knowledge of the grantmaking landscape or a willingness to learn more about this aspect of our work is key.
- Leadership – being see as a competent leader in the community and representing JCRC in a positive light as we work throughout the Jewish and non-Jewish community is vital to our success as an organization.

- Strong experience with social media best practices (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Knowledge of the Jewish community, its values, history, heritage, and culture.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage vendors and contractors
- Manage team members through our multiple events and programs. (as applicable)
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Graduate degree a plus.
- Three to five years of experience in a non-profit role which includes program development/management, creating budgets, planning events, and managing a team through a project or process.
Physical Requirements
- Light sedentary office work with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Implementing programs and events which may include lifting light boxes and bending often.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel domestically as required.
- Ability to work in-person or remotely.
