We continue to follow developments closely as the U.S. joins Israel in responding to the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.
We continue to stand with Israel’s right to defend itself and will continue to support those on the ground affected by recent attacks and ongoing instability. These needs are likely to grow in the coming days.
A nuclear-armed Iran poses a profound threat not only to Israel, but to global security, stability, and the well-being of people and nations everywhere. The urgency of confronting this danger cannot be overstated.
We are deeply grateful for the service and sacrifice of U.S. military personnel involved in these operations.
The Iranian people have never been our enemy. Those who have worked closely with partners in Iran know that they too have been the direct victims of their radical regime which has denied them basic civil and democratic rights.
Congressman Ritchie Torres is correct in saying that:
“The world can achieve peace in the Middle East, or it can accept a rogue nuclear weapons program — but it cannot have both.”
It has been refreshing to see a growing consensus among European and global powers who have realized this premise - many of whom have also pledged support for Israel in recent days.
We will continue to monitor the evolving situation - and as always - we keep two truths on our minds. We regret the unfortunate and terrible necessity of war but also hope and pray that these sacrifices can lay the groundwork for a better future for all those in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank, and Iran.
