September 2008 Missouri Clean Energy Initiative

The following position was voted upon and passed unanimously.

Proposition C, the Missouri Clean Energy Initiative, would, if passed, require investor-owned electric utilities in the state to generate or purchase 15 percent of their electricity from renewable sources, such as solar, wind, biomass and hydropower, by the year 2021, restricting to no more than 1 percent any rate increase to consumers.

The Council voted to endorse Proposition C. Environmental concerns are a Jewish issue, Proposition C is good for public health and the environment, and Proposition C will create jobs and be good for the economy.
