Fighting Bigotry & Hatred: Rosenwald Fellows and Brown v. Board of Education
Most Americans learn about the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision while in school. Few know the Rosenwald Fund – established by Sears, Roebuck & Co. President Julius Rosenwald – underwrote research that the Supreme Court used to help overturn the longstanding separate-but-equal principle. Join Dorothy Canter, President of the Rosenwald Park Campaign, to learn how pivotal evidence, known as "Dolls Tests," not only impacted the Warren Court ruling, but also changed the discussion of integration and Civil Rights for the next 70 years. No cost to register, but RSVP required. Program provided with FEL (Friends Enjoying Life), the Mirowitz Center men's organization.
Part of the Mirowitz Center's continuing "Fighting Bigotry & Hatred" series, and co-sponsored by ADL Heartland, American Jewish Committee, Jewish Community Relations Council of St. Louis, National Council of Jewish Women St. Louis, St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, and The Campaign to Create the Julius Rosenwald & Rosenwald Schools National Historical Park.
