JCRC has played a long-leading role in Israel advocacy and education. On October 7, 2023, terrorist group Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood inside Israel. Dozens were killed and an estimated 240 civilians and soldiers were taken hostage, many still in captivity today. The ensuing war has been heartbreaking to watch unfold, and JCRC continues to educate and advocate for Israel.
Here are a few ways we do this:
-
Ongoing education of the St. Louis Jewish community and larger St. Louis population about Israel, its history and narrative, its accomplishments and challenges.
-
Promoting and facilitating informed, civil discussion and debate about Israeli policies within the Jewish community.
-
Promoting Jewish activism on behalf of Israel.
-
Coordinating community rallies and commemorations.
-
Responding to and defending Israel against adverse or unwarranted editorials, attacks etc.
-
Bringing the views of the St. Louis Jewish community to national policy-making fora and the Israeli leadership.
Messages of Solidarity from our Interfaith Partners
Following the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas, our interfaith partners - including clergy and members of diverse faith backgrounds, elected officials, community leaders, educators, and friends of JCRC - reached out to us to share their support and messages of solidarity. Though we are not able to share all of them, please take a moment to watch the video below to read a few of them.
Though we continue to grieve, these messages have meant the world and served as a reminder that we are strongest when standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners.
